Persistence pays off: T Level student reaches WorldSkills UK National Finals
T Level Digital Support student Euan Moran has been named a finalist in the prestigious WorldSkills UK National Finals, securing one of just eight places nationwide in the IT Support Technician category.
The WorldSkills UK competitions are designed to inspire and upskill young people from all backgrounds, providing employers, colleges, and training providers with a proven method of developing talent.
The competition to reach the finals this year was epic, with Colleges, universities and major employers like Barclays, Airbus and Jet2 in the running to name a few. This year’s finals will take place across multiple venues in South Wales in November.
Euan’s journey to the finals involved several challenging stages. He first completed an online application, followed by downloading and submitting a project remotely. He then advanced to a four-hour, in-person qualifier at college, where his technical knowledge and practical skills were put to the test.
This is not Euan’s first time entering the competition. Last year, he reached only the second stage - making his 2025 achievement a testament to his persistence and determination.
Speaking about his success, Euan said: “I’m interested in lots of areas of my subject, but I particularly like problem solving, networking, and working on PC hardware. I’ve enjoyed my course because I get to study what I love full time, and the tutors have been brilliant. I’m keeping my career options open, but I definitely want to work in the tech world. I feel excited that I’m a WorldSkills finalist. I wasn’t expecting to get through to this stage.”
