2D Computer Aided Design Level 2 Award Part-time
Course Overview
2D Computer Aided Design Level 2 Award Part-time
The Level 2 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) Award (awarded by City & Guilds), develops your practical skills in producing accurate technical drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
You will build on your basic design knowledge to create, modify and present detailed 2D drawings used in engineering, construction and manufacturing.
The course covers essential techniques such as drawing geometry, applying dimensions, using layers and producing scaled drawings to recognised standards. You will learn to interpret design briefs and translate them into professional drawings, improving accuracy and efficiency compared to manual drafting. Emphasis is placed on precision, organisation and clear communication of technical information.
Assessment is typically coursework-based, where you are required to complete set tasks that demonstrate your ability to produce and edit CAD drawings.
This qualification supports progression into further engineering study, apprenticeships, or employment in design-related roles, and provides a solid foundation for more advanced CAD and 3D modelling courses.
