Data Management and Analytics Level 3 Certificate
This qualification is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work in entry level data roles within the digital sector, such as a data technician. The qualification focuses on the full data lifecycle, from sourcing and preparing data through to analysis, communication and secure management.
What you will learn
Students develop an understanding of how to source reliable and appropriate data, collate and format data for processing, and analyse data to support business outcomes.
The course also covers how to present and communicate data effectively to different audiences, using appropriate methods and formats. In addition, learners build essential skills in storing, managing and distributing data securely, with an emphasis on data protection and best practice.
You will learn to use new software and digital tools to help analyse data and understand data analysis and management. The course consists of 6 units to complete:
Understand how to source data
Collate and format data for processing and analysis
Analyse data to support business outcomes
Present and communicate data to the appropriate audience
Store, manage and distribute data securely
Collaborate with others and practice continuous professional development
This course will run for a full day each week for 15 weeks (6hrs per week). This course also involves blended learning taking place outside of college timetabled hours. It is expected that at least 3 hours outside of lessons can be committed to coursework needs on this course.

How much does the course cost?
This course is FREE subject to funding criteria. Please see 'Other funding information' to find out if you are eligible for funding. If you are not eligible for funding, this course costs £941 through Advanced Learner Loan.
Free courses for jobs
If you are aged 19 or over, you may not have to pay for this course if:
- You do not already have a Level 3 qualification OR
- You already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the earnings threshold set by your local authority, which includes benefits (see below) OR
- You already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit, below the earnings threshold set by your local authority (see below).
This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
Earnings Threshold
- If you live in the qualifying West Yorkshire region and earn below £25,000 a year, then you may not have to pay for this course.
- If you live in the qualifying South Yorkshire region and earn below £30,476 a year, then you may not have to pay for this course.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.
If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
