HN Flex Computing - Programming (Unit 1) Part-time Part-time
The HN Flex in Programming (Unit 1) introduces you to the fundamental principles of programming, including algorithm design, programming paradigms, and the use of an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Programming is the foundation of software development, allowing developers to create instructions (source code) that computers can execute. Through this course, you will explore how algorithms define problem-solving processes and how programming languages represent both data and control structures necessary for execution.
Gaining hands-on experience with procedural, object-oriented, and event-driven programming, understanding their characteristics and applications. The course will also cover essential security considerations, debugging techniques, and the role of coding standards in professional software development.
By the end of the unit, you will be able to design and implement basic algorithms in a chosen programming language, troubleshoot issues using an IDE, and apply critical thinking and analytical skills essential for both academic and professional success.
This unit, paired with Unit 13 Website Design and Development, offers an insight to a cutting-edge programme aimed at those who are eager to upskill and follow a career in various job roles within the high tech and ever-changing world of Software Development, Cybersecurity and Networking. Students on this programme will have a range of different backgrounds and interests meaning the programme will have a rounded approach to delivery and content.
What are HN Flex untis?
HN Flex are modules of Higher National qualifications and offer a chance to enhance your skills without committing to a full qualification. This 15-credit unit within the Computing HNC, covers cyber threats, defence techniques, and incident response. Gain industry-standard skills in software development, cybersecurity, and networking, while leveraging cutting-edge facilities and employer collaboration.
This unit is worth 15 Credits (30 in total combined with the HN Flex Website Design and Development (Unit 13).
