Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Level 3 (Non Regulated) Part-time
The Level 3 Light Vehicle Inspection Technician course, validated by IMI, is designed for experienced automotive technicians working within the light vehicle service, maintenance, and repair sector. This industry-recognised programme develops the practical skills and technical knowledge required to carry out professional vehicle inspections using current workshop procedures, diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer information.
The course is particularly suited to technicians who may not hold formal Level 3 qualifications but wish to demonstrate their competence and professional capability within the motor industry. It provides an opportunity for you to gain recognised accreditation while developing the confidence and skills required to progress within the automotive sector. The qualification also provides an excellent pathway towards becoming an MOT Tester for Classes 3, 4, 5, or 7.
You will develop the ability to inspect and assess vehicle systems including emissions, electrical systems, braking systems, steering and suspension, vehicle structure, and overall vehicle condition. The course focuses on structured inspection methods, fault identification, interpretation of technical information, and the accurate recording of inspection results in line with industry standards.
The programme is intended for technicians who can work independently and who typically have at least three years of industry experience in vehicle servicing, inspection, and diagnostics.
