This Apprenticeship Unit helps engineering operatives and technicians develop essential mechanical fitting and assembly skills, enabling businesses to address skills gaps and support operational growth.
Apprenticeship Units are short, flexible training programmes designed to help employers quickly upskill existing staff in areas of high demand. Delivered over 1 to 16 weeks, with training ranging from 30 to 140 hours, these programmes provide targeted learning that can be tailored to meet specific business needs while minimising disruption to day-to-day operations.

Who is this course for?
This Apprenticeship Unit is designed for employed engineering operatives and technicians aged 19 and over who need to develop their knowledge and skills in mechanical fitting and assembly. It is ideal for employers looking to strengthen technical capability, improve quality standards and enhance workforce productivity.
What will you learn?
Apply health and safety legislation, regulations and safe systems of work to mechanical fitting and assembly activities.
Interpret mechanical based specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to complete mechanical fitting and assembly activities.
Plan and organise mechanical fitting and assembly activities using effective prioritisation and time management techniques.
Select and use appropriate tools and equipment for mechanical fitting and assembly activities.
Measure and mark out materials accurately in preparation for mechanical fitting and assembly activities.
Safely carry out mechanical fitting and assembly activities in accordance with requirements.
Identify and diagnose faults in mechanical fitting and assembly activity outputs.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.
If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
