Fashion alumni inspire next generation
Former Barnsley College Fashion students have been speaking with our first-year Fashion and Textiles T Level students, talking about their journeys since leaving the College, giving them insight into the fashion industry and providing career advice.
Lily Bet-Cotton, 2019 Fashion Alumni

Founder and CEO of fashion brand Until Further Notice, Lily Bet-Cotton designs sustainable loungewear made from luxury end of roll fabrics.
Lily spoke to students about setting up her own brand and provided invaluable insight into the business side of fashion.
Olivia Robinson, 2022 Fashion Alumni

Currently in her last year at Westminster University studying Fashion Design, Olivia came to talk to our T Levels Fashion students about how valuable her time was at the College and how it prepared her for university.
She is currently working part-time while studying with Fashionista Rita Britton and has been successful securing work placements with Simone Rocha and JW Anderson.
Olivia Creighton, 2016 Fashion Alumni

Olivia, set up her slow fashion brand Up from a Dream three years ago with ‘longevity, style and sustainability at the heart of it’. In that time, she has won awards and has had her dresses worn by celebrities and influencers.
Olivia spent some of her time looking at the students work to discuss their designs and the importance of storytelling in fashion. Students said her talk was insightful, honest and enjoyed being able to look through her portfolio.
Amy Basry, Fashion Tutor spoke about the talks: “It’s always great to have past students come back and speak to our current learners. They’ve sat in the same seats, faced the same challenges, and their journeys are a powerful reminder that success is possible.
“It’s especially rewarding to see our former students succeed in their chosen pathways. I wanted them to share real, honest insight, to give a true picture of what it takes to succeed: resilience, determination, and passion.
“It’s particularly nice to hear how many of them said their time with us studying fashion at Barnsley College was amazing, and that it set them on the right path. They discussed how it helped them not only gain valuable skills, but also grow in drive, professionalism, and ambition.
“I hope these talks are valuable for our current students and that they take a lot from them.”
