Barnsley College University Centre unveils new photography and TV studios
Students at Barnsley College University Centre are set to benefit from new industry-standard photography and television studios designed to provide hands-on experience in professional creative environments.
The dedicated facilities have been developed as learning spaces first and foremost, ensuring students have timetabled access to the studios as part of their studies rather than using them solely as occasional project spaces.
The new TV studio was built by CJP Media and features professional broadcast equipment, including cameras that can be remotely operated from the production control desk, allowing students to gain experience across a range of production roles.
Alongside this, a new photography studio has been developed with the support of Wex Photo Video, featuring professional-grade equipment and a specialist backdrop developed by Essential Photo and Video.
Following the building’s £18m renovation, the new facilities further support Barnsley College’s commitment to providing students with access to industry standard facilities, technology and practical experience.
Jean-Paul Lawrence, Vice Principal for Partnerships and Growth at Barnsley College, said: “The environment we are now able to place our learners in is quite spectacular.
“We can give our students that opportunity to see what it will be like in real life, training on real equipment in realistic industry settings.
“That means when they go out and work in industry, they are already top level.”
