Student right on target to represent College in national darts event

A Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity student is preparing to represent Barnsley College at the upcoming regional AoC Sport darts competition, following a series of impressive achievements and a growing passion for the game.

Judd Devonport first discovered darts at the age of 13, when his grandad put up an old dartboard on the garden shed and encouraged him to give it a try. That simple introduction sparked an interest that has continued to grow ever since.

Over time, Judd began entering more competitive events, testing his skills against increasingly strong opponents. One of his proudest moments was winning a local under-23 competition for the first time, an achievement that provided a significant boost in confidence.

Another major milestone came in the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC), where he finished in the top 80 out of more than 250 players, competing against some of the best young darts players in the world.

Judd said: “It felt amazing to win the College darts tournament and I’m proud to represent my College at the next AoC darts competition which will be an amazing achievement for myself. I’m looking forward to competing against some of the best players from all Colleges around the country. I’m also very excited to prove my potential against some top players.”
