Students Triumphant in T Level Results
Barnsley College T Level students are celebrating after achieving an overall pass rate of 94%, surpassing the national average of 91.4%, with several subjects achieving a 100% pass rate.
Learners in Accounting; Design; Digital Production, Design and Development; Digital Support Services; Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing; and Education and Childcare subjects all achieving a 100% pass rate, as Barnsley College students continue to exceed the national results.
Accounting T Level students performed particularly well, with every learner receiving a Merit or Distinction.
Many students are looking forward to their next steps, with numerous learners already securing university places, apprenticeships or full-time employment.
Among the high achievers was Wiktoria Kozicka, who gained a Distinction in her Level 3 Accounting T Level and is heading to the University of Lincoln to study Accounting and Finance: “My plan is to become a Chartered Accountant. I really enjoyed the course, especially the work placement. The lessons were engaging and the teachers are helpful and knowledgeable.”
Alex Samuel Fox who obtained a Merit in his Level 3 Electrical and Electronic Engineering credited the work placement element of the T level to helping him achieve his high grade: “My work placement gave me a lot of experience and skills that helped me a lot when it came to things like my exams.”
Alex has now secured full-time employment at his work placement, Andel – an environmental product and services company, manufacturing circuit boards for flood defence.
T Level qualifications, which were introduced in 2021, offer a more technical route than A Levels, while remaining at the same academic level. Combining 80% classroom learning with 20% industry placement to prepare students for university, apprenticeships or employment.
David Akeroyd, Principal and Chief Executive of Barnsley College said: “Barnsley College was one of the first colleges in the country to offer T Levels when they were introduced. Our strategic choice to be an early adopter was because we recognised T Levels’ potential to transform education and we continue to be committed to T Levels as an exceptional choice for technical training.
“For the employers who we work closely with, T Levels bring opportunities for co-delivery, guest speaker sessions and opportunities to identify and nurture talent that could benefit their business in both the short and long-term. It is fabulous to hear that some of T Level students have successfully gained employment with the business that supported their work placement.”
