We’re offering FREE Level 3 courses to Adults

Barnsley College is extending its course offer and through the government’s Free Courses for Jobs offer, eligible adults aged 19 and over can now study their first full Level 3 qualification for free.
The Free Courses for Jobs initiative aims to help adults gain new skills and qualifications, boost employability and open new doors to career opportunities.
The courses are delivered in partnership with Independent Training Services, a subsidiary of Barnsley College.

They cover a wide range of subjects, including:
- Level 3 Accounting
- Level 3 Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning In Schools
- Level 3 Coding Practices
- Level 3 Cyber security Practices
- Level 3 Data
- Level 3 Understanding Mental Health
- Level 3 Understanding Autism
To qualify for these free courses, applicants must be aged 19 or over, live in the South or West Yorkshire regions and meet one of the following criteria:
- You do not already have a Level 3 qualification.
- You already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the earnings threshold set by your local authority, which includes benefits. (See below)
- You already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit, below the earnings threshold set by your local authority.
- If you are not eligible for funding under the Free Courses for Jobs offer, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available to help you cover the costs of learning, which you pay back when you are earning over a certain amount.

Earnings thresholds
If you live in the qualifying West Yorkshire region and earn below £25,000 a year, you may not have to pay for this course.
If you live in the qualifying South Yorkshire region and earn below £30,476 a year, you may not have to pay for this course.
